130130 Rihanna Rihanna on Chris Brown: Love Allowed for Rolling Stone Cover Girl

Although the 13th track from Rihanna‘s latest studio effort suggests “No Love Allowed” between the “Unapologetic” singer and her controversial beau fuckyopictures C. Breezy Chris Brown, revelations in her new Rolling Stone interview assert otherwise. Ring the alarm, because on the cover of the February 2013 glossy the Stone has branded the Terry Richardson-lensed island gyal as being crazy… in love. *Beyoncé booty bounce* Continue reading

Sally Lapointe Fall 2012 NYFW: Sally Lapointe Fall 2012

Sally Lapointe created a deep and moody dreamworld for ice queens and transformative tastemakers for Fall 2012. Her collection, inspired by Franz Kafka’s The Metamorphosis, began with a stately ivory evolution, then turned sinister and sexy with ornate, iron-wrought designs and leather. The young designer’s latest work captured an emotional world of light to dark, yet maintained sultry, wearable designs fit for the modern-day siren. In the midst of Lapointe’s ivory capes, navy neoprene jackets, gold sequin pants, and tempting backless dresses, we couldn’t keep our eyes off of the models’ wondrously stacked wedges and their patchwork patterns. Equally so, the designer’s descent from sweet to sombre was amplified by beauty looks that keyed in on the porcelain-face-plum-lip combo that fall and winter seem to implore. With an elixir of heavy metal and hardcore ‘tude, Lapointe’s Fall collection executed  good girl gone bad to the letter.

Feature NYFW: Haus Alkire Fall 2012

Bang, bang. They shot us down. Bang, bang. We hit the ground. Bang, Bang. Haus Alkire shot us down. After this year’s Ecco Domani Fashion Foundation award win from Ecco Domani Wines, the brand presented an Autumn/Winter 2012 collection with gaucho influences, complex combinations, and soundtrack worthy of a Kill Bill run; we were sent down the road to redemption. The duo behind the label, designer Julie Haus and graphic designer Jason Alkire, says they were inspired by Chinese artist Luo Jie, whose work often speaks to internal struggles and the dualities of one’s mental state. With the added influence of Italian film, The Belle Starr, the team bred an outlawed heroine who battled with the light and dark side of her psyche — all while impeccably dressed. In their quest to represent a woman’s dual nature, Haus Alkire experimented with silk, wool, cashmere, lambskin, and dip-dyed fur. Their presentation included a mix of fully functional attire: wider than wide cream wool trousers, a blood red-orange foliage print silk dress, and amazing leather pleated top that from afar, looked like fringe.

MBNYFW NYFW: Michael Bastian Fall 2012

Manhattan’s most eligible bachelors — ahem, male models — showcased yet another dandy collection for menswear maven Michael Bastian Fall 2012 at the Exit Art runway on Monday. “The Extra Man,” as the collection was titled, drew from a 1974 New York Times article which assembled the “most-wanted” men from a few damsels’ little black books. There were no unisex cuts or effeminate designs here; just well-dressed men who’d make any woman swoon.

 NYFW: Correll Correll Fall 2012

CorrellCorrell’s German twin designers Daphne and Vera Correll are among seven designers and teams who were honored with a renowned 2012 Ecco Domani Fashion Foundation Award — the same accolade that catapulted Alexander WangCostello TagliaietraCUSHNIE ET OCHSZac Posen, and Richard Chai in years past. With eight weeks max to craft a collection for fashion week, the Correll twins produced 19 looks for their Autumn/Winter 2012 collection. CorrellCorrell has been based in New York City for the past six years, and the stylish pair behind the namesake line say the one word that best describes their post-EDFF culmination is opposites. The duo played with opposing textures, hues, and materials to meld otherwise unexpected pairs into fluid designs. Burgundies and midnight blues weaved in and out of casual, loose-fitting knits that the twins designed. Seamless mixes of silk merino and boucle knits, mohair and metallics, ombre and appliques added facets to the delicate looks and produced wardrobe staples that can be layered, mixed, and matched countless times.
