Coco Rocha is not a supermodel. Somebody lied. And that is not personal opinion. That, my friends, comes from the mouth of Rocha herself. From Canada to the best of all things couture and now, primetime television, “The Face” mentor doesn’t consider herself that much of a star. In TIME, she quipped:
But, for argument’s sake, let’s review the facts:
Campaigns: Chanel, Versace, Lanvin, Yves Saint Laurent, Zac Posen, et al.
Covers: ELLE, Dazed & Confused, Numéro, Harper’s Bazaar, MUSE, VOGUE, et al.
Catwalks: Christian Lacroix, Vera Wang, D&G, Jean Paul Gaultier, Catherine Malandrino, et al.
Emphasis on all things et al. The humility, though, is admirable. The willingness to own her era and realize that the dawn of the supermodel circa 1990 — think Naomi Campbell, Cindy Crawford, Christy Turlington, Linda Evangelista — may never rise again is refreshing. Still, Rocha, above most other models du jour, deserves a ”werk bitch” in every essence of the word.
